Snowfall in summer...

My beloved sister was visiting this past week and these beautiful little flakes went home with her.  They were intended for this past Christmas...but I wanted to finish the "set".  Someday, I will get to it and she will have the remaining designs too.  There is one on the shuttle, somewhere, with the instructions I had printed...someplace about...I really do need to get back to my challenge of finishing things!

These are the 1st 4 of Diane's doodad snowflakes that she designed this past winter...there are 7 designs there, 8 total if you include the snow crystal she also designed.

There you have it, a bit of a snowfall in June!

  1. This kind of snow in June is just fine (lovely in fact!) Thank goodness, it's not the other!

    1. This year, I would not be surprised...we were getting freezes quite past the usual this year and a good storm every Tuesday well into May! I much prefer the tatted kind though :-)

  2. Why wait for winter? Snow in summer is so refreshing!

Your snowflakes are beautiful, and I'm sure your sister is thrilled to have them. I've been thinking of making some with sparkly beads on the picots... Maybe pale blue? You've really got me thinking now!

    1. My Sister's favorite color is lavender, her husband's light blue...I keep thinking snowflakes in those colors would be enchanting.

    1. Thank you, and yes...I think they will be treasured...my Sister misses Grandma's snowflakes too :-) She had an entire silver tinsel tree filled with sparkling white tatted ornaments...it was gorgeous!

  4. Your snowflakes are beautiful. Where are you getting the little hangers? I like those very much, much nicer than my little string hangers I use.

    1. I get the hangers at the local Dollar Tree (dollar store), they carry them closer to Christmas...a fairly good size package for $1. I really like them...they add a pretty touch.

  5. This is what I love about tatting - how even small motifs can be made into something attractive and useful. I always say you can never have enough Christmas ornaments, especially snowfakes; and the doodads and hangers really set them off!

    1. Thank you!!! Someday, I hope to tat larger flakes for everyone...but for right now, the little ones are perfect as they are what my time allows.
